All papers should be submitted electronically (Microsoft Word or RTF format, A4) and comply with the general formatting guidelines (see below). All submitted papers should comply with the guide for contributors and be sent by e-mail to the Editor-in-Chief Andres Saumets (andres.saumets[at]mil.ee).
All submitted papers are subject to peer-reviewing. The editorial board will decide whether to accept or reject the contribution according to the reviewing process and suitability of the paper for a particular volume. Editors maintain the right to make editorial revisions but no major changes will be made without the permission of the author. Authors have a right to reject the changes; however, the editorial board will make the final decision on whether to accept or reject the paper offered for publication.
Please keep in mind the following general guidelines:
- The names of all authors should be listed in the submitted paper
- The author must refer to the ideas, research, arguments, data etc. by other authors in accordance with academic standards. Works by other authors should be referred to or quoted in a way that the original message of the paper, as a whole, is properly conveyed
- Submissions should not violate the rights of third persons or contain any data whose publication is prohibited by law
- Contributions must be exclusive and original and not previously published nor being considered for publication elsewhere at the same time (except papers, theses, lectures, presentations, and presentations of theses for obtaining an academic degree). If a submitted paper has already been published (including translated papers), the initial publication should be referred to, and legal issues related to copyright should be taken into consideration
- All contributions must be in English or in Estonian
- Each author is responsible for his or her paper’s compliance with these requirements
- Upon acceptance, submissions are published in both paper and electronic versions of Sõjateadlane or EMA Occasional Papers, whereas the electronic version can be submitted for full text databases
- Unless otherwise agreed, the author has the right to publish and disseminate his or her submission – as well as other papers by the author that are based on this submission – but only on the condition that the published version in Sõjateadlane or EMA Occasional Papers is referred to
Authors will receive at least three copies of the issue containing their paper, as well as a PDF file of the final layout.
